To celebrate the United States’ commitment to the environment this Earth Day, the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) is pleased to announce the 30th Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED®)-certified diplomatic facility in Abuja, Nigeria.


The new Embassy Annex facility in Abuja received LEED® Gold certification. The Annex includes a photovoltaic array that provides clean power for electricity, fixtures that reduce water consumption, and construction materials with recycled content.


Other Department of State LEED-certified facilities include one LEED Platinum facility in Helsinki, Finland, and eight LEED Gold-certified Embassies and Consulates in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo; Bujumbura, Burundi; Dakar, Senegal; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Manila, Philippines; Monrovia, Liberia; Monterrey, Mexico; and Rabat, Morocco.
